These specimens only have 2 layers of Onyx at the base and at the top of the geometry, instead of the usual 4 layers. The rest of the volume is filled with isotropic layers of carbon fibre in the sequence [0º/90º].5.

In order to validate the mechanical strength of the components printed on the Markforged Mark Two printers, and as part of a collaboration with GIMOSM-ISEL, we have produced several standardised specimens for mechanical testing. These tests are being carried out by a Master's student in Mechanical Engineering (ISEL) at the CDRSP (Polytechnic Institute of Leiria).
